Zone Heating Cables for Tank Heating

Zone heating cables are used for heating tanks when heat must be delivered along the entire length of the cable line and the product inside the vessel must be kept at a stable temperature. These cables are installed on the outer surface of tanks under thermal insulation and provide uniform heating of the wall, preventing cooling, thickening, or freezing of the contents.

Structurally, a heating cable for tank heating consists of conductive cores with a cross-section of up to 1.2 mm², on which a heating wire is wound in coils. The winding pitch is calculated to prevent contact between the coils and ensure stable heat output. After winding, a protective insulation layer is applied, followed by a tinned braid, and then a fluoropolymer outer sheath resistant to aggressive environments and temperature fluctuations. The cable has a fixed output and can be cut in one-meter increments, which is the origin of its name. This design makes installation precise, convenient, and adaptable to any tank size.

The advantage of zone cables is the combination of features from resistive and self-regulating systems. Due to their resistance to chemical exposure, mechanical stress, and high temperatures, the cables operate reliably under insulation for decades. They can be used in areas with increased safety requirements, including chemical and oil refining facilities. Industrial tank models are available with operating temperatures from 90 to 425 °C, allowing selection for different products and operating modes.

Our company can assist with system design, power selection, and thermal calculations. Equipment from several manufacturers is available with official warranty and full technical documentation.
