Self-regulating heating cable HSB+ with fluoropolymer sheath up to 225°C and power up to 60 W/m
The self-regulating heating cable HSB+, manufactured by Bartec GmbH (Germany), independently regulates and limits heat transfer from its surface.
This power regulation is carried out automatically at each point of the heating cable depending on the temperature at which it is located. As the temperature rises, the thermal output of the cable decreases and, thanks to this self-regulation, overheating of the cable is prevented even when crossing it.
The HSB+ heating cable is intended for heating pipelines, heating tanks, heating impulse tubes and instrumentation equipment, where, in accordance with the technological process, there is an influence of elevated temperature (steaming).
The temperature that the heating cable can withstand when turned off is 225 degrees, when turned on – 150 degrees.
A self-regulating cable is a cable whose heating element is a semiconductor matrix. A semiconductor has the property of increasing or decreasing its resistance when the ambient temperature changes. Thus, the cable is able to independently adjust itself to certain temperature conditions; at positive temperatures the cable will heat up less, at minus temperatures it will heat up more, while the change in cable heating temperature is local.
The main advantage of this type of cable is its resistance to possible overheating.
Among the disadvantages: its price, instability to mechanical loads, and fear of moisture. If the outer sheath of the cable is mechanically damaged and moisture enters the semiconductor matrix, the cable fails.
The main application of this type of cable is heating of pipelines and heating of tanks, as well as all kinds of objects where the use of resistive cables is impossible due to the likelihood of overheating and failure.
